The Alliance of International Developers for Rare Diseases (AIDRD) Hackathon 2020 will be held from March 9th through 12th, 2020 in Kashiwa, Japan (1 hour train from Tokyo). The focus of this hackathon is bringing together developers from around the world to help address three key challenges for rare disease diagnosis:
- The use and interoperability of rare disease differential diagnosis tools. Potential focus: interoperability between diagnosis suggestion tools, building on the recent release of Phenopackets, to make it easier for platforms to use adopt diagnosis suggestion tools and easier for researchers to benchmark and compare these tools.
- The collection and interoperability of family history information. Potential focus: advance the development of the GA4GH pedigree standard by piloting the exchange of pedigree data between several key projects.
- Patient access to information about rare disease specialists. Potential focus: explore and evaluate approaches to specialist curation and prediction, such as those used by rarediseasedoctors.org
