Description:
In this webinar, Denise Slenter [Orcid:0000-0001-8449-1318] from the Bioinformatics department at Maastricht University will show her project on digitizing pathway figures from the medical textbook “Physician’s guide to the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of inherited metabolic diseases » by N. Blau et al. 2019 [ISBN 978-3-540-28962-3].
The pathway drawings have been converted to fully machine readable pathway models, annotated with identifiers for proteins, metabolites and metabolic conversions, which allows for analysis of various types of omics data.
The full set of pathways is available on the Inborn Errors of Metabolism portal and the Rare Disease portal through the WikiPathways database, an open and collaborative expert pathway database.
Through digitalization, the pathways can also be integrated into other websites, as has been done on the Inborn Error in Metabolism Knowledgebase.
